Child labour in China is hardly a new phenomenon. For years, despite official regulations banning the employment of minors (defined by Chinese law as those under sixteen years of age), teenagers and even pre-adolescents from poorer regions of China have been drawn to the rapidly developing southern and coastal areas looking for work.

By the end of May, China hopes to have over 200 DNA centers ready to process and store genetic material to help stop child trafficking, the BBC reported. About 43 centers have already been established.

According to The Associated Press, which cited a government ministry’s Web site, the DNA databases will store samples of DNA from parents whose children have been kidnapped. Centers will also obtain samples from allegedly abducted children, as well as from “vagrant children with an unclear history.”

May 1st of 2008 china had some troops break up a laboring group and rescued some children. Authorities in southern China’s Guangdong Province, near Hong Kong, said they had made several arrests and had already “rescued” more than 100 children from factories in the city of Dongguan, one of the country’s largest manufacturing centers for electronics and consumer goods sold around the world. The officials said they were investigating reports that hundreds of other rural children had been lured or forced into captive, almost slavelike conditions for minimal pay.
The children, mostly between the ages of 13 and 15, were often tricked or kidnapped by employment agencies in an impoverished part of western Sichuan Province called Liangshan and then sent to factory towns in Guangdong, where they were sometimes forced to work 300 hours a month, according to government officials and accounts from the state-owned media. The legal working age in China is 16.

It also talks about that the government arnt doing anything to fix the problem athey sre slowing changing little things. It talks about that child labour isn't really a big thing and that some of the local brick factories have connections with the government that keep them in business and from the cops bustings them. Beijing Youth reported on June 15, 2007, that a son of a Party Chief in Caosheng Village owns one of the underground brick factories in Hongdong County and receives special protection from government

This site has alot of info about my topic. This atlks about how children are being snatched off the streets and made to work in brick kilns for 16 hours a day and are feed little rations of food. Some of the children are as young as 8 years old, and they are gaurded by dogs and thugs that beat the children when they are not doing there work.
